Radio & Social Networks

It’s amazing how powerful, and dynamic advertising has become in the past 20 years…
Inverse Paradox was recently on the Preston & Steve Show which was broadcasted live on free radio at 93.3 WMMR in Philadelphia. We were on the air because we recently put up a website, www.worldphuckingchamps.com, selling shirts in honor of Chase Utley’s famous words after the Phillies won the World Series. The response, a little overwhelming, has led to the sale of nearly 2,000 shirts, not only benefiting us, but the PSPCA as well, through our donation of 26% of the proceeds.
I am amazed at how fast the word spread. Using tools like free radio, e-mail, MySpace, Facebook and blogs, we have significantly outsold our competition. All of these tools didn’t cost us a cent, and we are now at the #1 spot on Google searches.
What this all means is that a well designed marketing campaign can’t strictly rely on a website. It can’t only rely on traditional word-to-mouth. It can’t rely on strictly paid efforts.
It needs to rely on the passion and care of you, the originator of the product, business, or concept to push the idea through every channel available. Utilizing social networks (MySpace, Facebook, LinkedIn) can be a great way of advertising for free and gaining sales. If what you’re pitching has something unique about it and you think it would be of interest to a broader public, get in touch with your local media outlets. All as it takes is writing an e-mail.
